According to the world health rankings, Haiti has the highest death rate due to malnutrition. Asia and the Pacific, however, have the most starving people, with more than 550 million people not getting adequate food.
Despite the high numbers that put Asia and the Pacific at the top of world hunger statistics, malnutrition is decreasing in the region. In Africa, however, it is increasing. In fact, nearly 25 percent of the population of Africa is malnourished. It is estimated that more than 800 million people in the world are victims of malnutrition as the result of not having adequate food supplies.
