How Do You Check a VIN to See If a Motorcycle Has Been Stolen?
The National Insurance Crime Bureau allows the public to check the vehicle identification number of motorcycles and other vehicles online to determine if the vehicle is stolen. Once the requested information is entered into the site, a search is made against the number, and the result appears. The only limitation is that a user is restricted to five searches with any 24-hour period from the same IP address.

Access the VinCheck application
Open the VinCheck application on the National Insurance Crime Bureau website by selecting the VinCheck option from the Theft and Fraud Awareness pull-down menu located at the top of the page.

Fill out the VinCheck form
Enter the requested information into the VinCheck form. The information required includes the VIN number of the motorcycle, a check in the box next to the agreement of the terms and conditions of the site, and a verification code that’s displayed in a small box near the bottom of the page.

Search the VIN
Press the Search button at the bottom of the application screen. The application searches the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s database of stolen VINs to determine if the motorcycle is on the list. After searching, the application displays the results.
