Full-body tremors are caused by neurological problems in areas of the brain managing muscles throughout the entire body, notes the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Some common disorders that cause tremors include stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and diseases that corrode the cerebellum or brainstem.

Other causes for full-body tremors include the use of drugs such as corticosteroids and amphetamines in some patients. Alcohol withdrawal or abuse, hyperthyroidism, mercury poisoning, and liver failure are other potential causes, reports the NINDS.

Signs of full-body tremor include a shaking in the limbs, head, hands and trunk, as well as a shaky voice and difficulty managing items held in the hands. Stress and severe emotion have the potential to trigger tremors, as stated by the NINDS
