Women can get pregnant at age 48, though pregnancy risks increase with women who are older, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. However, it is difficult for a 48-year-old woman to conceive naturally.
According to a CNN article, women in their upper 40s have a slim chance of conceiving without the use of another woman’s eggs. Even then, the woman still may not be able to conceive if her uterus has been scarred. Also, older women have an increased risk of having babies with genetic abnormalities, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. They are also at a higher risk for miscarrying and for having more health problems while pregnant.
