A tool to help you do this is the SMART goal technique, an acronym for specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely goals. Then you should devise it into a practical action plan and follow it precisely.
In order to turn a goal into an actionable plan, work backwards from the end result you want to see and note the steps you need to take to get there. Alternatively, devise the goal into smaller goals that you would need to achieve to get there, and then keep devising those tasks into smaller ones until you have a clear picture that you can keep track of.
It is important to monitor your progress for two reasons -- to be aware of where you stand in the big picture and also to help motivate yourself. In this regard, setting SMART goals helps.
Staying motivated while you follow each step of the action plan is very important. In order to stay motivated, consider reminding yourself of why you want to fulfill your wish as often as possible. Visualize the end result and how that will affect you or others. Celebrating when you get a step closer to your goal is a great way to stay inspired.
