The Feng Shui Institute offers a free Four Pillars of Destiny Chinese astrology chart. Once the chart has been calculated, users can click on the Four Pillars Interpretation link for an explanation of what it means.
The Four Pillars chart uses Heavenly Stems, or the elements of earth, metal, water, wood and fire, plus the Earthly Branches, which are the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. The Heavenly Stems are divided into yin and yang for a total 10 Heavenly Stems. Combined, these chart elements create 13 million possible variations. Chinese astrologers believe this makes the Four Pillars more accurate than Western astrology charts with only 500 possible variations.
A Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch are associated with the year, month, day and hour of birth. The Year Pillar represents family background. The Month Pillar stands for early childhood and relationship with parents. The Day Pillar describes the relationship with a spouse. The Hour Pillar is associated with career, relationship with children and old age.
