Billy Graham is an ordained Southern Baptist minister and the founder of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Graham achieved international fame for conducting "crusades," large public gatherings featuring Graham's preaching and other encouragement for audience members to commit themselves to Jesus Christ.
Born in 1918 in North Carolina and ordained in 1939, William Franklin Graham Jr. founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1950, soon after coming to prominence for his preaching at a 1949 Los Angeles revival. He has traveled to over 180 countries and territories, hosted radio and television programs and written more than 30 books. His last crusade was in 2005 in New York City. Gallup's Ten Most Admired Men in the World poll results have included Graham more than 50 times.
Graham's son William Franklin Graham III, known as Franklin Graham, is president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as of 2015.
