A mile is equal to 5,280 feet. The average adult’s stride is between 2 and 3 feet. On average, it takes between 1,760 and 2,640 steps to walk a mile.

In order to measure how long it takes to walk a mile, one should time himself while walking a full mile without breaks at a quick, steady pace.
