Followers of the Ascended Master Teachings believe that there is one single higher power and that all people on Earth are incarnations of this celestial being. According to students, the teachings come from the Ascended Masters, a group of individuals who have lived on Earth multiple times in a physical form and have proceeded to become God-like entities in the spiritual world.
According to HeartsCentre.org, the Ascended Master Teachings teach that every living person will go through the ascension experience, which is described as complete liberation from karma and rebirth and freedom from the boundaries of physical existence. The teachings are thought to have initially begun in the late 1800s by the Theosophical Society, with the term "Ascended Master" being officially introduced in 1934 by Guy Ballard.
Some famous names of masters believed to have achieved ultimate divine empowerment include Afra, Akshobhya, Aloha, Alpha and Omega. These people are thought to have fulfilled their Dharma plan and have ascended into heaven to be reunited with God, now acting as mentors to the inhabitants of Earth. Advocates believe that there are a variety of rays of incarnation and that our souls incarnate in our bodies on one of seven rays during different lifetimes.
