John the Apostle was not boiled in oil. Legend has it that John the Apostle was thrown into boiling oil during the times of Roman persecution, but he remained unharmed.
John the Apostle chose to follow Jesus when he was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee. He was one of the first disciples chosen by Jesus. When John preached the Gospel, he endured many beatings, and he was thrown into prison for preaching. John was fiercely loyal to Jesus. When Jesus was crucified, John was the only apostle at the cross. John was also the first person to recognize Jesus the day of his resurrection.
