According to WebMD, Advil is a name brand pain reliever with the active ingredient of ibuprofen. Aspirin is not an ingredient of the drug Advil.
Nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs, also known as NSAIDs, are placed in three broad categories, states WebMD. This category of over-the-counter drugs is typically used to treat mild aches and pains as well as a means to reduce fevers. Name brand drugs with the active ingredient of aspirin include Bayer, Bufferin and Excedrin. Name brand drugs with the active ingredient ibuprofen include Advil and Motrin IB. Aleve is a name brand drug with the active ingredient naproxen.
