I’ve come back to alter my answer that the night sky is never orange.Later I communicated with a young woman in Scotland who claimed that she has seen an orange sky at night. She lived fairly close to the North Sea and I brought up the idea that intensive oil activity and natural gas burn-off could turn the sky orange especially during foggy conditions.

The sky not only scatters light from the sun, it scatters light from the ground. Like you said, it's the streetlights making that color. Where I live it's cloudy a lot so I'm use to the sky sometimes seeming brighter at night than during the day.
