It turns out then, that the reason gold is precious is precisely that it is so chemically uninteresting. Gold's relative inertness means you can create an elaborate golden jaguar and be confident ...
actually gold in the past wasn't worth that much other wise they would not have made money out of it. some dumb *** said some thing stupid and that is why it is worth so much its all pollitics. but when we use up all the gold money won't be worth any thing or prices for things will be a thousand times more than they are now a candy bar will cost 1000 dollars.
I never understood why people value gold and diamonds so much. I can understand the need for a certain amount of gold and diamonds for use in industry to make electronics. But why is a chunk of metal or a bunch of carbon atoms worth so much to us??? Yes they are both rare, but they serve no practical use aside from looking pretty.

Gold is really hard to come by -- you can't just go dig up a bunch of gold in your back yard -- so it has a stable volume and therefore maintains a relatively constant value. We are still mining gold, so the global volume of gold is increasing, but only very slowly.
How much is gold worth? Under normal circumstances most of us don't dwell on how a product we pick up on a store shelf came to get its price. If we take a few moments to contemplate the raw materials, labor and transportation costs needed for that product to reach us, not to mention the retailer's markup, it is clear that the price assigned to a given product is the result of a series of ....
Why is gold worth so much? 03/07/2019. What is the reason, does it make sense that metal has become currency?
