Mona Lisa’s silk veil proved quite a problem as I was unable to find a black silk of the same delicacy and transparency. In the end, and in spite of hand-hemming a number of different silks, we had to use a modern man-made textile. I also had to consider what I could see to the back of Mona Lisa’s head.
