As I studied in other places, it reinforces the idea that t he IPv6 loopback address cannot be assigned to a physical interface.::1 just works the same way as 127.0.0.1 in IPv4. Pinging a loopback interface (virtual) is a means to confirm that the ipv4 or ipv6 protocol software is working as expected.
