My 4 year old wirehair dachshund Heidi had her first seizure in August of 2014. I had a previous dachshund with seizures growing up, so I did not freak out and waited until she had another in February of 2015. I went to the vet, she took tests, and did not seem to think it was anything other than epilepsy.

Thrashing in the middle of the night, with urination in a dog that does not usually have urinary accidents does sound like a seizure. Also in general many dogs have most of the seizures at night due to the brain electrical activity during sleep. However it is not usually possible for you to get a dog out of a seizure, which is a little odd.
