I have a Toyota Highlander 2006 and last week all 3 lights ( VSC, TRAC OFF and check engine ) came on after going to Yosemite park. They all came on the third day of camping in the morning after I started the car. I checked the manual and it said VSC and TRAC OFF always come on together and no problem with driving the car.

The VSC, TRAC OFF and CHECK engine light came on. Toyota dealership wanted $85 to run the diagnostics. Local repair shop ran diagnostics for free…said I had a small emission leak…we replaced the gas cap and the shop turned off the lights. Drove about 400 miles and the lights came back on (put gas in the car around 350 miles).

The vsc, check engine & Trac control came on in my 2010 Toyota wish, I drove a few days and it came off, however I still checked with a mechanic who explained that my O2 sensor is down stream (under the car), and it got wet due to rains (wet roads….)and it caused the sensor to not be read temporarily … 5000 miles later it has not resurfaced

This is all good but it brings the question, why did the VSC off and TRAC off lights come on?? I had played with the car a bit before I took it in, and the VSC/TRAC system did not intervene, this could be a safety risk. I don't think the catalytic converter has ANYTHING to do with the VSC/TRAC system (correct me if I am wrong). _____

I took mine to the dealer to find out why the VSC, Trac off, and check engine lights are on. They said it is the camshaft position sensor, it retards the timing, and causes it to lose power when climbing. Also, 1 of every 30 to 50 scions have this problem. Sounds like it should be recalled for this.
