Degenerative changes involving the symphysis pubis are a common radiographic finding. Many times we must decide if the changes seen are degenerative or inflammatory. The clinical history is extremely important when attempting to differentiate the changes seen in this region.
After a fall, I had x-rays on both of my hips and pelvis, to rule out a break. The x-rays showed no break, but degenerative changes in both hips and pelvis. I have an old posttraumatic fragmentation at the left greater trochanter, and both greater trochanters show bone spurs. My PCP wants me to see ...
Pubic joint. As the name implies degenerative changes in symphysis pubis is a degenerative disorder and occurs naturally . Spurring is a natural response to irritation and a degenerative change commonly observed. Such changes may or may not cause pain. Prior inflammation of pubic joint could lead to early degenerative changes.
Yet, 2 weeks later, a similarly located lesion was again visible on ultrasonography. Subsequently, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the pelvis was performed, showing advanced degenerative changes of the pubic symphysis with a connective tissue that cast the anterior wall of the urinary bladder (Figure 3 A – C).
Ist said I had degenerative change of the pubic symphysis. and a malalignment of ps. I understand that part. 2nd. Old posttraumatic fragmentation at the left greater trochanter with cortical whiskering of the right greater trochanter superiorly. Scattered degenerative changes of both greater trochanters. I don't understand that.

Fig 10. Xray changes of pubic instability. Young adult footballer with marked irregularity of sub-articular bone density at the pubic symphysis that either reflects degenerative joint change or chronic pubic apophysial stress. Also note soft tissue calcification at the right adductor origin that could be secondary to either chronic ...
In the female, the pubis is located above the vulva. In cooperation with the sacroiliac joints, the symphysis pubis forms a stable pelvic girdle. The anatomy of the pelvic girdle is quite complex. The pelvis is a ring, and any anatomical change or force of pressure to one area will expand throughout the ring.
Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction has been described as a collection of signs and symptoms of discomfort and pain in the pelvic area, including pelvic pain radiating to the upper thighs and perineum. These occur due to the physiological pelvic ligament relaxation and increased joint mobility seen in pregnancy.
