I must ask, but what was your intent when you issued the stop payment? In Florida, it is illegal to write a check if there is no money in the account, for instance, you cannot write a check and "race" to the bank in the hopes that you will beat that check to the bank. The money in the account must be there BEFORE the check is written.

Yeah in that case it would be illegal in most any state to stop the payment. The only problem may be that unless you have a signed contract or copy of the work order or Estm is that if she claims your offer/estm included the other work (even though it in fact did not) and you didn't do it and she contends that she didn't get what she was suppose to.

Stop payment on check. My grandmother instructed her son, who had POA to issue 5 gift checks, at 10,000 each to her 5 grandchildren. He, the son issued the checks, grandmother died the same day. After her death, 5 days later, her son stopped payment on 3 of the checks. The other 2 checks cleared, they were to his 2 children.
