HOW TO USE THE SNOW LOAD CALCULATOR AND HOW IT WORKS. We created the snow load calculator because every property in the Town of Truckee, Placer County, Washoe County and El Dorado County has a unique ground snow load. The SLC also works for Douglas County which has very basic snow loads.
Online Snow Load Calculator(for Buildings with Flat or Low Slope Roofs - for Balanced Snow, Drift, and Rain-on-Snow Surcharge Loadings) calculator (ASCE 7-05) for structural engineers, construction professionals and building planners.
All of the load cases required to fully design an actual structure are not provided by this calculator. For the design of an actual structure, a registered and licensed professional should be consulted as per IRC 2012 Sec. R802.10.2 and designed according to the minimum requirements of ASCE 7-10 .
If you need to gather ground snow load data programmatically, please consider our API Service. Use our Roof Snow Load Calculator to determine your design roof snow loads. Please review our State Snow Loads page to investigate state specific snow load requirements. For additional questions or concerns about specific ground snow loads please call us at 1-425-741-5555.
GroundSnowByZip is a tool for Architects, Engineers and Builders to easily determine the ground snow load (Figure 7-1 (Table 7-1 for Alaska) of ASCE 7-05) for any location in the continental United States. To determine the design ground snow load, fill in the address below. You only need to fill in either the city and state or the zip code.
The intent of the snow load calculator is to give you the appropriate balanced and unbalanced snow load as per the ASCE 7-10. What is required is the ground snow load and some general information about your roof. It all pretty much follows a very simple algorithm set out in chapter 7 "Snow Loads".
Design Ground Snow by Zip Code GroundSnowByZip is a tool for Architects, Engineers and Builders to easily determine the ground snow load (Figure 7-1 (Table 7-1 for Alaska) of ASCE 7-05) for any location in the continental United States To determine the design ground snow load, fill in the address below You only need to fill in either the city and state or the zip code

Local and/or state requirements on the ground snow loads or the roof loads subsequently calculated from these values supercede the values provided by this Snow Load Finder Tool. Note that the State of Montana requires a minimum roof snow load of 30 psf be used for design. Montana Ground Snow Load Finder
