Tropical Rainforest Plants Information. The world’s tropical rainforests are home to an incredible number of plants. The Amazon Rainforest alone provides a habitat for over 40,000 plant species!. The hot, humid climate of the world’s tropical regions provide ideal conditions for plant life.
An epiphyte is an organism that grows on the surface of a plant. In tropical rainforests, many plants live as epiphytes to receive the necessary sunlight and moisture to complete their life cycle. These plants are attached to their hosts high in the canopy so that they can compete with other plants for water tapped from rain, fog, dew, or mist.
Tropical Rainforest Plant Life. Tropical rainforest plants represent the richest biodiversity, as compared to plants of other biomes. Adapted at different heights, studying about tropical rainforest plant life is an interesting topic for avid environmentalists.
The deciduous forest biome gets its name from its most visible form of plant life, the deciduous tree. Deciduous trees, such as maples, oaks and beeches, lose their leaves during fall and winter, and regrow them during spring. These trees turn deciduous forests red, orange and yellow during autumn as leaves prepare to fall.

While heliconias can vary in size and shape, heliconia plants are usually long, around 4.5 meters (15 feet) in length with large leaves that can potentially grow anywhere from 15–300 cm (6 in-10 ft) .
The tropical rainforest biome is the flora and fauna that make up the ecosystem. Some estimates say that between 50 and 75% of all plants, animals, and organisms are indigenous to rainforests. Rainforests are found in countries such as Brazil, Peru, the Philippines, Indonesia, Congo, and Papua New Guinea.
Types of tropical forest. Tropical forests are often thought of as evergreen rainforests and moist forests, however in reality only up to 60% of tropical forest is rainforest (depending on how this is defined - see maps). The remaining tropical forests are a diversity of many different forest types including: seasonally-dry tropical forest, mangroves, tropical freshwater swamp forests (or ...
The richest in plant species are Amazon forests, but in general all tropical forests have an incredible variety of trees. WWF is committed to conserving the world's rainforests, not only because of the incredible wealth of plants and animals, but for the benefit of the indigenous peoples who call these forests their home.
Tropical rainforest, also spelled tropical rain forest, luxuriant forest found in wet tropical uplands and lowlands around the Equator.Tropical rainforests, which worldwide make up one of Earth’s largest biomes (major life zones), are dominated by broad-leaved trees that form a dense upper canopy (layer of foliage) and contain a diverse array of vegetation and other life.
A rainforest orchid. Orchids are very common plants in the tropical rainforest. The Amazon Rainforest itself is home to more than 40,000 plant species! The most common tree in the Amazon Rainforest is the açai ( Euterpe precatoria ). However, it only makes up 1% (5 billion) of the 390 billion trees in the region!
