Trigonmetry is the study of plane and spherical triangles. Plane trigonometry deals with 2- Dimensional triangles like the ones you would draw on a piece of paper. But, spherical trigonometry deals with circles and 3- Dimensional triangles. Plane trigonometry uses different numbers and equations than spherical trignometry.

OK at the 2 year college here, they offer ONLY trig , and you take that after college algebra, and before you take calculus, and the counselors at the 2 year college all say that, trig and precalculus mean the same thing there, which is weird, because, then if you look at the classes offered at ...

Geometry vs Trigonometry Mathematics has three main branches, named as Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry. Geometry is the study about shapes, size and properties of spaces of a given number of dimensions. The great mathematician Euclid had made a huge contribution to the field geometry. Therefore, he is known as Father of Geometry. The term “Geometry” […]

When you take trigonometry in high school, they show you right triangles, and teach you that the sine, cosine, and tangent are ratios of various sides of the right triangle, in reference to one of the non-right angles in the right triangle. You ma...

If you haven't taken any type of Trig class (including high school), then I suggest you take Trig. A strong background in Trig will make Calc 1-3 much easier. I hadn't taken trig in 15 years and skipped pre-calc and trig in order to get into Calc 1. Most of my struggles came with having to rebuild my trig knowledge.
