Created by Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869, the periodic table was originally based on the game of solitaire. As it was created, index cards with each element's information were arranged into suits — and the rest is history! While new elements have been found since its creation, Mendeleev knew enough to leave room for most of them.


The periodic table is much more than a list of chemical elements. It can provide a plethora of information about the chemical and physical properties just by the element's position. This quiz uses fictional elements named after my teammates. Recommended for grades: 11,12
