Hi, Thanks for the reply. But how do you know that it is a PCIE slot? Also, is it PCI-E 16 or PCI-E 32 slot?? I read somewhere that usually PCI-E slots have a small click to attach the card but my screenshot does not contain that clicking portion. Hence want to know if its really PCIE slot or not? Thanks!

The PCI Express standard is one of the staples of modern computing, with a slot on more or less every desktop computer made in the last decade. But the nature of the connection is somewhat nebulous: on a new PC, you might see a half-dozen ports in three or four different sizes, all labelled “PCIE” or PCI-E.” So why the confusion, and which ones can you actually use?

PCI Express, technically Peripheral Component Interconnect Express but often seen abbreviated as PCIe or PCI-E, is a standard type of connection for internal devices in a computer. Generally, PCI Express refers to the actual expansion slots on the motherboard that accept PCIe-based expansion cards and to the types of expansion cards themselves.

PCI Express. PCI Express—sometimes abbreviated PCI-e—is a newer build that is becoming standard for computer peripherals as of 2010. PCI-e offers more variations in size and speed than traditional PCI. PCI-e cards come in four varieties: x1, x2, x8 and x16. (The larger sizes indicate faster speeds and a bigger slot.)

1. PCIe is much faster compared to PCI. 2. PCIe uses a serial interface while PCI uses a parallel interface. 3. PCIe speed is classified into lanes, each capable of delivering up to 1GB/s data transfer. 4. PCI slots are standardized while PCIe slots vary depending on the number of lanes the slot is intended for. 5.

For comparison’s sake between M.2 SATA SSD vs M.2 PCI Express (PCIe) SSD, PCI Express is more like a SATA SSD on steroids. In a theoretical mad dash to the finish line, an M.2 PCI Express SSD leaves an M.2 SATA SSD in the dust. Compare and contrast theoretical PCI Express bandwidth in the excess of 20Gb/s to SATA III which is capped at 6Gb/s.
