But 64 and 128 GB cards still do work, if you format them as FAT32. They work in every 3DS model released so far. The problem is that stock, they ship in the incompatible exFAT format, and the 3DS cannot format an SD card itself. So yes, Nintendo doesn't support SDXC out of the box, but the cards work just fine if you prepare them.
