This does not appear to be a type of window designed for installation with plank siding (unless the siding is shoved into a very deep integral J channel with the back flange of it concealed by the siding) - looks like a "flush mount" window to go over panel siding or brick (though would still need the water shield, flashing, etc in that case.).

To miter window and door corners of the J-channel, install the bottom J-channel to extend past the side casing, making sure it's the width of the J-face on each end. Cut out a three-quarter inch notch in the bottom of the side J-channels and bend the tab. If you want, miter the bottom J-channel to give it a nice mitered appearance.

J-trim installs on steel-sided buildings, such as pole barns and commercial buildings, as the finish trim to steel siding. Similar to J-channel used with vinyl siding, J-trim is nailed to the building's framing at the top edge, and along any interior corner seams to hide the raw edges of the siding.

The fold of the tabs for the bottom piece of the J-Trim will fold upward and fit snugly into the inside of the side J-Trim moldings. This will prevent water from flowing into the siding from the bottom. Step 8 - Finishing Touches. Add the clear caulking along the window trim and the J-trim for a professional finish to your project.

Integral “J” is fine, its actually better. no pieces to separate. The intergral "J’ is a real bad idea!! It does not drain water off the top of the window but to both sides where some it will end up behind the siding when leaving the bottom of the side “J’s”…It’s a built in fault with regular and integral J’s and the way 99% of people install vinyl and similar sidings.
