The Holy Spirit also gives us spiritual rebirth (see John 3:5). In other words, God has already given you the Holy Spirit, who now lives in you and in every believer in Christ. But that doesn’t mean He is in control of your life! To be filled with the Spirit means to be controlled by Him—and that’s the problem many believers have.
We know that we have received the the Spirit of Christ is if there is a work of sanctification done by the Spirit in our lives. Speaking in tongues, performing miracles, doing many other good things is not the true indication of receiving the true Spirit of Christ. The main work of the Spirit is to conform us to the image of Christ.
All you have to do is ask, believe, and receive! Pray, Father, I recognize my need for Your power to live this new life. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. By faith, I receive Him right now! Thank You for baptizing me. Holy Spirit, You are welcome in my life. Congratulations! Now you’re filled with God’s supernatural power.
Ask the Father today and welcome the Holy Spirit into your life. Many Christians don't receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and so never really experience a real change in their lives. Without the Holy Spirit you can do nothing and your Christian walk will just be down to tradition and not a real living relationship with the Spirit of God.

This is our initiation so to speak into the church of the living God. It does
The Lord said, “And the Spirit shall be given unto you by the prayer of faith; and if ye receive not the Spirit ye shall not teach” (Doctrine and Covenants 42:14). As you pray for help in your teaching, the power of the Holy Ghost will carry your teachings “unto the hearts of the children of men” ( 2 Nephi 33:1 ).
“Our lives were totally changed when we learned how to be filled with the Holy Spirit as a result of your ministry. Now we are sharing Christ with others wherever we go.” They handed me a generous check with this request. “We have come to ask you to share on television how to be filled with the Holy Spirit with millions of others.
The Holy Spirit, the Bible says, “helps us in our weakness” (Romans 8:26). He convicts us of sin, He opens our eyes to God’s truth, He grants us spiritual gifts, He counsels and guides us — all these and more would be impossible without His help.
The New Testament Scriptures clearly teach that no one has the Holy Spirit until he or she turns to God and asks to receive His indwelling presence (Luke 11:13) through faith in Jesus Christ.
