The Honda manual for the Spirit 750 calls for 16.9oz, that's if you've got all the oil out of the entire fork, not just sucking the oil out the top w/the fork still on the bike. Otherwise it calls for 4.9 inches from the top of the tube with the fork completely compressed and the spring and spacer removed.

how much fork oil (stock specs) I blew a fork seal and took my 02 954 to the shop to get the seals done. today I go back to pick it up and much to my dismay I see pits and dings on both forks (the shiny smooth part that passes through the seals) On top of that, I hold the front brake and compress the front to see how it feels...it feels like mush.

Let me add , for bikes with "anti-dive" forks , make sure all the oil is out of the valving on the side with ant dive . (speaking from experience) . The manufacturer will list different volumes for right and left fork . But if you have the oil level for compressed fork with no spring , it is much easier . And a quarter inch makes a big difference .
