Gas is cheap now paid $1.50 today per gal. and there was almost a 10K savings on the 7.3 over the 6.7 so you are going to be just fine. I would guess after 4,000 miles, you should get some better MPGs Fords are always "tight" when new and will break in and perform better as you get more and more miles.

The best gas mileage I ever got was 4.8 mpg, I understand the newer ones get upwards of 6-8 mpg. However the V10 is the overhead cam design which is a much higher revving engine than the 7.3 V8 which is the tried and true technology used for many years.
Soon the 7.3 gas will have a year experience in pickup trucks and chassis cab. The 2011 6.7 diesel was quite good from the start with most problems being with the transmission torque converter.
