How long does the Mobic (meloxicam) take to start working? Asked 29 May 2012 by badcatjack Updated 16 June 2013 ... 3.3 mg. Anyone that tells you it doesn't work hasn't taken it. I don't remember how long it took to work but I do remember what it felt like when I missed a couple of doses when I had a stomach virus. I was in hell.
@fify-- I think meloxicam is supposed to work right away. You should speak to your doctor, he might give you an additional medication or switch you to something else altogether. Meloxicam was relieving my pain but it also gave me chronic migraines, so I ended up switching to another NSAID. I think it's an effective drug though.

So, I'm thinking maybe I need to take it for a few days to see if it works or increase the dose to 15 mgs. I'm going for Acupuncture this
How Does Meloxicam Work? Meloxicam is a type of drug called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by stopping the production of compounds called prostaglandins in the body. Prostaglandins have a number of effects on your body, including causing inflammation.
since I am not on Remicade, I as able to obtain some Mobic.for some reason, Mobic does not seem to work the way it did before, some days when I take mobic, it works like a Charm, but some days I am in extreme pain. I also purchase some over the counter arthritis pain relief medicine, but I'm not taken much of it.
Mobic is simply a different type of NSAIDS. It should start working right away - definitely if you have taken it that long. I took it before and it did nothing for me but give me a headache. If you are taking it for fibro only - it actually shouldn't work to any degree - since there is not supposed to be any inflammation involved in fibro.
How does Metacam (meloxicam) work It works in dogs by regulating pain and targeting the inflammation-causing enzymes, specifically the COX-2 enzyme. When there is cell damage in some part of the dog’s body, COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) gets activated, and resultantly produces prostaglandins, which in turn leads to inflammation, pain, and fever .
Mobic made my eyeballs swell after a couple of days being on it. It was so bad I had to go see my eye Dr to make sure there was no damage done to my eye. I stopped immediately after not being able to see. Lucky there was no damage but it took a week to get my eyes back to normal.
