Different Eras of Music – The Evolution of Music. 04/21/2019 Our music changes through the years, Freddie Mercury once sang. That part of the lyrics is indeed, true, as music has definitely gone through various movements and changed over the past 2000 years.


The orchestral set-up led to the era's most important type of music, the symphony. It developed rapidly at the beginning of the era, moving from a standard, strict three-movement format with a quick opening, a slow middle movement and a quick one to finish, to become an expansive four-movement vehicle for orchestral expression.


Baroque music expanded the size, range, and complexity of instrumental performance, and also established opera as a musical genre. Many musical terms and concepts from this era are still in use today. The "Composer of the Era" goes to J.S Bach


20th century Music Approx. 1901 - Approx. 2000 this era consisted of many different styles of music and new electronic intruments where inroduced in mainstream music.


The first fully acknowledged era in classical music was the Renaissance period, beginning in around 1400. There was, however, all sorts of music before that, much of it laying the foundations for the composers who were to come – and this all sits under the umbrella of what we refer to today as the Early period.


Listen to the difference Mozart and Beethoven, the leader of the Romantic era. Beethoven used the most brass that he could in his day, but later romantic composers had more brass instruments. That is why there is such a fluctuation between light classical and "masterpiece" classical music between the times of Classical and Romantic eras.


One of the essential differences, therefore, between Baroque and Classical Music is the historical difference. They represent different eras in the history of European music. Each historical musical period is a reflection of the overall historical, cultural, social and intellectual context that produced the music.


Today, the guitars are not so different then when they first were made. Guitars are originally from spain. The acoustic, or classical, guitar, a string instrument, is a very light-weight and non-electric guitar that will perform a range of music from Spanish folk music, to orchestral concertos.


Baroque music is a term referring to music written and composed in the baroque era from approximately 1600 AD to 1750 AD. This era was preceded by the renaissance era and was followed by the classical period. In the baroque era,, music was extensively written, performed and people still listen to that music.
