I was honestly hoping not to like them because they are very expensive pencils. After one use, I was hooked! There are SO many things that make these pencils worth every penny.

For this reason, if you decide on Pablo, I would get the white luminance at least. They feel softer to me and the point wears down much faster than Pablo. The Luminance is a fatter pencil and does not fit in all sharpeners. A thread was just started yesterday on sharpeners. I think the Luminance has better skin tones than Pablo if you do portraits.

According to Caran D'Ache, the Pablo is indeed an oil based pencil, whereas the Luminance is a wax and oil mix based pencil, which is why so many seem to think the Luminance are 100% wax. In a way, this confusion, only highlights the excellence put into the crafting of these wonderful pencils.

Unlike their Luminance counterparts, each pencil is varnished and sealed with the corresponding colour.
