They were produced after the company was purchased by the A.C. Gilbert Co., but they are still referred to as American Flyer S-scale trains. S-scale toy train locomotives were not produced by the A.C. Gilbert Co. until after World War II. A.C. Gilbert stopped producing them in 1966, when they went out of business.
