Under normal circumstances, a common magnet does not stick to aluminum. Under the right conditions, however, it is possible to get a strong magnet to interact with aluminum, though never to the extent that it works with ferrous metals.
However, that is only partly true because magnets stick to some types of metals and not others. For example, imagine you have two metal cabinets right in front of you, one is aluminum and one is steel. When you try to stick your magnets on the cabinets, the magnet will slide off the aluminum cabinet and stick firmly to the steel cabinet.
Magnets stick to any metal that contains iron, cobalt or nickel. Iron is found in steel, so steel attracts a magnet and sticks to it. Stainless steel, however, does not attract a magnet. Iron or steel are often added to other metals to make them stronger. The weaker metal will not attract the magnet, but the addition will.

GM will have aluminum trucks for the 2018 model year IIRC. Dodge will probably be right after that. About 10 years ago there was a super thin, reusable material that stuck real well, and I don't think it was magnetic. Manufacturer stopped making it. Something about high cost and poor sales. Can't for the life of me remember the trade name.
