Maeve Binchy Snell (28 May 1939 – 30 July 2012), known as Maeve Binchy, was an Irish novelist, playwright, short story writer, columnist, and speaker best known for her sympathetic and often humorous portrayal of small-town life in Ireland, her descriptive characters, her interest in human nature, and her often clever surprise endings.
Maeve Binchy started as a writer with the short story collections Central Line and Victoria Line. She then followed it up with Light a Penny Candle in 1982. I am a HUGE Maeve Binchy fan but I find her short stories somewhat lacking. This is my 2nd time reading "Chestnut Street", the first being when it was initially released. Then I was just so happy to have anything by her so I probably was a bit more generous with my review.
