Last year, we reviewed some of the weird laws that are commonly attributed to exist in Arizona. Most of those listed were just urban legends but a few managed to actually grace Arizona’s law books. Today, we’re going to look at several more strange laws that have actually existed or currently exist.
The cousin law is 65 because of the chance of procreation. It’s the same in Arizona. Over the age of 65 a woman has zero chance of producing children so she’s allowed to marry her cousin. Interestingly enough, it is 100% legal to marry your first cousin in 18 US states and inb4 none of them are in the south.
While most laws protect the individual and society’s interests, every now and then explainable, illogical, and frankly, the dumbest laws in the world slip in. You’d wish these weird laws wouldn’t be passed but somehow, beyond reason, they do.
