According to The Roar, Queensland had won the State of Origin rugby competition eight times in a row before losing to New South Wales in 2014. The last time that New South Wales won was in 2005, but Queensland had triumphed from 2006 through 2013.
The Under 20s State of Origin has only had seven seasons so far (2012 to 2018) with only one game a year, instead of three. New South Wales has won six of the seven, with Queensland winning their first in 2018. They play for the Darren Lockyer Shield.

This even scoreline sent State of Origin into its first golden-point extra time. The only two previous draws were in 1999 and 2002, both in Game 3, and due to the fact that golden point did not exist for Origin matches at the time, both draws saw Queensland retain the Origin shield as they had won in the year before (1998 and 2001).
