Telophase definition, the final stage of meiosis or mitosis, in which the separated chromosomes reach the opposite poles of the dividing cell and the nuclei of the daughter cells form around the two sets of chromosomes. See more.

The stages of mitosis - that process that allows cells to divide and reproduce - are detailed and complex. Learn about the ins and outs of telophase, the final step of mitosis.
Check out What happens during telophase on Answerroot.com. Find What happens during telophase here During telophase, the chromosomes uncoil, two separate nuclei develop and the cytoplasm divides. The cell is completely divided in two by the end of telophase.

In most cases, cytokinesis (the division of the cytoplasm) occurs at the same time as telophase I. At the end of telophase I and cytokinesis, two daughter cells are produced, each with one-half the number of chromosomes of the original parent cell. Depending on the kind of cell, various processes occur in preparation for meiosis II.
Telophase (from the Greek τέλος (télos), "end" and φάσις (phásis), "stage") is the final stage in both meiosis and mitosis in a eukaryotic cell. Fluorescence micrograph of a human cell in telophase showing chromosomes (DNA) in blue, microtubules in green and kinetochores in pink.
Mitosis is nuclear division plus cytokinesis, and produces two identical daughter cells during prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Interphase is often included in discussions of mitosis, but interphase is technically not part of mitosis, but rather encompasses stages G1, S, and G2 of the cell cycle.
Metaphase definition, the stage in mitosis or meiosis in which the duplicated chromosomes line up along the equatorial plate of the spindle. See more.
