Oreion Motors owners worked five years to create a street-legal ATV, and in about 2011 they introduced the first Sand Reeper. The launch occurred at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The initial concept that led to the Sand Reeper involved extending the versatility of the typical off-road ATV and reaching out to gain customers from off-roaders, retirees and the military in several countries. Oreion Motors manufactures the Reeper in its Albuquerque facility using parts made in China. Initially, the Sand Reeper's popularity was limited in beach communities and retirement centers, but as of 2015, more than 35 dealers in several states sell the Oreion Motors Reeper.
