Subaru made a number of recalls in 2014, including thousands of Subaru cars involved in the Takata airbag recalls ordered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Subaru also recalled hundreds of thousands of cars of different models and years in 2014 due to possible brake line corrosion.
Subaru is the auto manufacturing division of Fuji Heavy Industries, a Japanese transportation conglomerate and one of the biggest automakers in the world. The manufacturer's largest recall in 2014 involved more than 660,000 vehicles registered in certain states that utilize salt to melt snow and ice in winter months. The melted and salty water may splash onto the rear brake line and lead to corrosion and fluid leaks. The automaker discovered the possible defect and recalled the vehicles after issuing a statement to the NHTSA.
