Pirelli, Michelin and Dunlop manufacture some of the highest rated motorcycle tires on the market as of 2015. All three companies make tires for various conditions and riding styles. The top sport bike tire in 2015 is the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V2, according to Motorcycle USA. The highest performing touring tire on the market according to CycleWorld.com is the Michelin Pilot Road 4.
In a controlled test at Willow Springs Raceway, the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V2 sets the fastest lap time while also being one of the lightest weight tires to be tested. The lightweight quality of the tire helps the handling characteristics of the motorcycle dramatically by minimizing rotational mass. A downside to the tire is that it costs the most out of all tires tested, coming in at over $600 for a set.
While the Pirelli Supercorsa SP V2's are the best in an aggressive sport riding scenario, other manufactures offer more stable and longer lasting options for touring riding. The Michelin Pilot Road 4 features Michelin 2AT (Dual Angle Technology), which results in a noticeable increase in rigidity and stability. The Road 4 also utilizes the hard center/medium shoulder 2CT configuration, which enhances the longevity of the tire tremendously. For example, instead of getting 2,000 miles out of a set of Supercorsa SP V2's, owners can expect to get closer to 10,000 miles out of the Road 4's. These estimated figures depend on riding style and road condition.
