To effectively shampoo the interior of a car, thoroughly vacuum the interior, use a stain remover to spot clean, then shampoo the interior using a scrub brush and a foaming carpet shampoo. Treat the interior of the car with a fabric protector.
- Vacuum the interior
Prior to shampooing, use a shop vacuum to remove all dirt from the fabric and carpet. Ultimate Wash car wash recommends using a baseball bat or another heavy item to pound the seats until more dirt comes out, then vacuum again.
- Use a stain remover to spot clean
Use a multipurpose degreaser to remove tough stains. Apply the degreaser to a hidden area of the carpet or fabric before applying it to visible areas to ensure it doesn't discolor the material.
- Shampoo with a foaming carpet shampoo
Spray foaming carpet shampoo on the carpet and fabric in the car. Use a strong scrub brush to thoroughly scrub the interior. When the foam dissolves, use a dry towel or cloth to wipe down the carpet. Roll the car windows down, and let the interior dry completely. Once dry, spray a fabric protector such as Scotchgard on the seats and carpet to protect the material from stains, oil and water.
