A Jeep's vehicle identification number is often listed in vehicle documents such as the owner's manual, insurance records or the vehicle title and registration card. The VIN is also printed on a number of locations on the vehicle, including the front of the engine block or inside the driver-side door.
A vehicle's VIN number contains information about that vehicle, including the name of the manufacturer, model year and where the vehicle was built. A Jeep's VIN number is exactly 17 digits long, though Jeeps that were manufactured before 1981 have VIN numbers that are 11 to 17 digits long. If the VIN number is not printed on the vehicle and not listed in any documents, consult the manufacturer or dealership. Once the VIN number is obtained, write it down for future reference.
