At AutoTrader.com, click the Cars for Sale tab near the top left of the main page, and then provide answers to all queries marked Required; answering the remaining queries is optional. Near the bottom of the page, check the box next to Private Sellers Only.

At Cars.com, click Advanced Search near the top right of the purple Search Cars for Sale section on the main page, and then answer the queries, being sure to check only the Private Party + Classifieds box near the bottom of the page.

At eBay.com, click the Motors tab near the top of the main page, and then provide answers in the query boxes beneath the Find a Car or Truck heading, leaving only the Used box checked. Narrow your search with refinement tools on the left of the page. Click on a listing to view details of the sale or auction, including the seller type. Often, listings posted by dealers include a photo that has text printed across it, such as the dealer name or logo.
