A:

Quick Answer

The AOPA Flight-Planning tool is available for free to all AOPA members by logging in to an AOPA account and selecting Flight Planning. To use the tool, powered by Jeppesen, log in from a desktop computer, rather than a mobile device, as the tool is not designed for mobile use. The tool is designed as a pre-flight planning aid for general aviation pilots, and also includes drag-and-drop waypoint manipulation, route exports and chart printing. All features are available from your personal AOPA page under the Flight Planner option. Select the Route Profile Display to depict your route airspace, line and winds aloft.

With the Flight Planning tool, you can also create and store flights, including aircraft N-number and complex routing. Get a formal DUAT weather briefing and file a flight plan directly online. For a full tutorial on the new online tool, go to the AOPA home page, click on Flight Planning, and then select Flight Planning Tutorial. The on-screen presentation walks you through all components of the tool and answers frequently asked questions. It does require the use of Flash.

Other complimentary apps include the Weather App, Airport App and AOPA GO App.
