The Cushman Company started in 1903 and made many models over the years, including the Model 53 Military Airborne, the Model 765 Barrel Spring Eagle and the Model 53A Civilian Airborne. They are technically scooters, not motorcycles.
The Model 53 Military Airborne was created to be dropped by parachute with Army Airborne troops during World War II. Only 4,734 were sold, making it very rare and highly sought after. The Model 53A Civilian Airborne was introduced after World War II, adding lights and a spring suspension system to the aforementioned military version. The Model 765 Barrel Spring Eagle was sold from 1950 to 1954. Cushman stopped producing scooters in 1965.
