Hankook, Goodyear, Michelin, Cooper and Falken produce the top five all-terrain tires as of 2015 for SUVs and trucks such as the Nissan Pathfinder, according to consumer review group Consumer Reports. The Hankook Dynapro AT-M is considered the best tire in this class.
The Hankook Dynapro AT-M employs what the manufacturer refers to as a "tough" pattern design to help overcome difficult terrain. It features a large block size between treads to improve traction. The AT-M's tread design also wraps partially onto the sidewall of the tire, offering additional protection against punctures and additional traction in mud or snow. A reinforced under-gauge and carcass improves the tire's stability and helps prevent damage from off-road impacts, as do the tire's thickened and reinforced sidewalls.
In addition to the Dynapro AT-M, Consumer Reports recommends the Goodyear Wranger All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar, Michelin LTX A/T2, Cooper Discoverer A/TW and Falken WildPeak A/T01 as high-quality choices for off-road tires. These tires feature some design differences from the Hankook Dynapro tires that may make them better choices for Nissan Pathfinder drivers who only take their vehicles off-road occasionally. For example, the Michelin LTX A/T2 tire incorporates Michelin's Comfort Control Technology to improve ride comfort on paved surfaces.
