The Harley-Davidson Trike, Can-Am's Spyder and the Polaris Slingshot are three-wheel motorcycle models. All of the models have three wheels and a motorcycle engine and can accommodate a driver and a passenger. However, each unit is radically different in concept, design and appearance
The Trike is a conventional three-wheeled tricycle design with two wheels in the back and one in front. The motorcycle is available in two different models. The hot-rod-inspired Freewheeler is the smaller and easier to handle unit of the two. It has an air-cooled high-output twin-cam 103 engine but otherwise is free of bells and whistles. The Tri Glide Ultra is the premium Harley touring Trike. It has an elevated second seat behind the driver, multiple storage bays, an infotainment center with a 6.5-inch screen and compatibility for Bluetooth, USB, iPods and iPhones.
The Spyder is an inverted tricycle with two wheels in the front and one in the back. Otherwise, it has typically motorcycle seating and comes in four models, including the F3, RS, ST and RS. A full range of pricing is available from low to high-end with many touring comforts such as cruise control, GPS, satellite radio and cargo trailers available.
The Polaris Slingshot is truly unique in design and aesthetics. It is also an inverted three-wheeler, but it has side-by-side seating in a low-slung cockpit with a futuristic design.
