The Starfire tire line rates well according to safercar.gov. The majority of Starfire tires score the letter grade "A" in the area of traction, while two earn scores of "B". The temperature rating scores fall into lower categories, with the majority at "B" and a couple receiving "A" and "C".
Safercar.gov's wear ratings vary greatly between Starfire tire lines, from 320 to 620. Consumer Reports does not include Starfire in their ratings of the best tire manufacturers. Consumer Reports does, however, rate Cooper tires, which owns the Starfire brand, in its list of top brands sold. Other top brands include Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Hankook, Kumho, Michelin, Pirelli and Yokohama.
