The 2015 Subaru Outback is a four-door wagon that features standard all-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter inline-four engine in its base, Premium and 2.5l Limited trims. A 3.6-liter V6 engine is also available as an option. All versions of the Outback use a continuously-variable automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
Versions of the 2015 Subaru Outback powered by the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine vary mainly in the level of amenities and options available. The base Outback trim features 17-inch steel wheels, power accessories, a 6.2-inch touchscreen and rear-view cameras. Opting for the Premium trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-way adjustable power driver's seat, dual-zone climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Limited trim level includes the features of the Premium trim along with 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered rear lift gate, a nine-speaker sound system and leather upholstery. All versions of the Outback have 35.5 cubic feet of cargo space that can be increased to 73.3 cubic feet by folding down the rear seats.
The 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited trim includes the features of the 2.5-liter Limited trim, but substitutes a V6 engine that produces 256 horsepower and 247 foot-pounds of torque. This engine betters the output of the standard 2.5-liter by 86 horsepower. The 3.6R Limited Outback's fuel economy is not as good as that of the 2.5-liter models, however, as the vehicle only gets 22 miles per gallon in combined driving as compared to the standard Outback's 28.
